What is Buddha Purnima?
Vesak is the most sacred day in the Buddhist calendar, observed across South and Southeast Asia on the Vaishakha Purnima. Sarnath, Bodh Gaya and Kushinagar hold the great gatherings.
The day's discipline is gentleness: abstaining from harm, feeding monks and the poor, releasing captive birds, and meditation through the full-moon night.
