Chhath Puja: dates, muhurat and meaning.
The next Chhath Puja is on Saturday, 14 November 2026, running through 15 November 2026. The date is computed from the classical panchang for Delhi (rule: classical festival table — tithi prevailing at local noon). Below are the Chhath Puja dates for 2026 and 2027, the day's shubh muhurat windows, and what the festival celebrates.
Chhath Puja by year
What is Chhath Puja?
Chhath is austere and spectacular at once: lakhs of vratis stand waist-deep in rivers and tanks at dusk and dawn, offering arghya to Surya and Chhathi Maiya. Thekua, rice kheer and sugarcane are the prasad.
The four-day arc runs Nahay Khay, Kharna (the evening kheer), Sandhya Arghya and Usha Arghya. The listed dates show the principal days; the arghya timings follow sunset and sunrise exactly.
Muhurat on Chhath Puja
Chhath is timed by the sun itself: the evening arghya at sunset, the morning arghya at sunrise. No other muhurat applies — the city's exact sunrise and sunset on your panchang are the schedule.
| Window | Time (IST) |
