Gita Jayanti: dates, muhurat and meaning.
The next Gita Jayanti is on Saturday, 19 December 2026. The date is computed from the classical panchang for Delhi (rule: classical festival table — tithi prevailing at local noon). Below are the Gita Jayanti dates for 2026 and 2027, the day's shubh muhurat windows, and what the festival celebrates.
Gita Jayanti by year
What is Gita Jayanti?
The Gita was spoken at dawn of the battle — 700 verses that became the philosophical spine of Hinduism. Gita Jayanti keeps the date, on the same Ekadashi as Mokshadha.
Devotees read the Gita cover to cover, gift copies, and at Kurukshetra the Gita Mahotsava fills the week with recitation, yajna and debate.
Muhurat on Gita Jayanti
Recitation and Gita-daan are done through the day; the Abhijit Muhurat above is the shubh window for beginning the parayana.
| Window | Time (IST) |
|---|---|
| Abhijit Muhurat (shubh for all works) | 11:58 AM – 12:39 PM |
