The next Lohri is on Thursday, 14 January 2027. The date is computed from the classical panchang for Delhi (rule: the day before makar sankranti). Below are the Lohri dates for 2026 and 2027, the day's shubh muhurat windows, and what the festival celebrates.

What is Lohri?
Lohri falls the day before Makar Sankranti, on the last night of the sun's southern course. The bonfire is the heart of it: circumambulated, fed with sesame and jaggery, and ringed with song and dance.
In Punjab and Haryana it is also the year's great thanksgiving for the rabi crop. The date is fixed by the solar calendar, so unlike most festivals it barely drifts year to year.
Muhurat on Lohri
Lohri is an evening festival — the bonfire is lit after sunset. No special puja muhurat is classically prescribed; the day's Abhijit Muhurat above is the shubh window for any new work begun that day.
