Maha Navami: dates, muhurat and meaning.
The next Maha Navami is on Monday, 19 October 2026. The date is computed from the classical panchang for Delhi (rule: shukla navami tithi prevailing at sunset). Below are the Maha Navami dates for 2026 and 2027, the day's shubh muhurat windows, and what the festival celebrates.
Maha Navami by year
What is Maha Navami?
Maha Navami is the craftsman's festival: workshops are cleaned, machines garlanded, vehicles decorated with plantain and vermilion, and no tool is used until it has been worshipped.
In Bengal it is the last full day of Durga Puja, ending with the maha aarti before the Dashami farewell. Kanya pujan is performed where it was not done on Ashtami.
Muhurat on Maha Navami
Ayudha Puja is performed in the morning and early afternoon — vehicles included, so vehicle deliveries are often timed to it. The Abhijit Muhurat above is the day's anchor window.
| Window | Time (IST) |
|---|---|
| Abhijit Muhurat (shubh for all works) | 11:43 AM – 12:29 PM |
