| Abhijit Muhurat (shubh for all works) | 12:12 PM – 12:54 PM | Delhi |

What does Vasant Panchami celebrate?
Vasant Panchami (Basant Panchami) honours Saraswati, goddess of learning, music and speech, on the fifth tithi of Magha's bright half. Children write their first letters (Vidyarambham), books and instruments are worshipped, and yellow — the colour of spring mustard — is worn.
The story and significance of Vasant Panchami
Vasant Panchami heralds spring and is the year's principal day for beginning education: the classical Vidyarambham rite seats a child before Saraswati to trace first letters in rice.
The day is considered abujh — auspicious in itself — in much of North India, so weddings, housewarmings and new ventures are begun on it without consulting further. Bela still shows the day's computed windows above.

Does the Vasant Panchami date change from city to city?
Yes, it can. Vasant Panchami is fixed by a tithi prevailing at a specific moment — sunrise, noon, sunset or midnight — and that moment is local. Moving west or east across longitudes can push the prevailing tithi across a civil-date boundary, so Mumbai, Kolkata or New York can observe a day apart from Delhi. Smarta and Vaishnava traditions also differ on some fasting days. The date above follows the popular North-Indian convention for Delhi; the Bela app recomputes for your exact location.
