What is Guru Purnima?
Guru Purnima is also Vyasa Purnima. The guru-shishya tradition holds the teacher as the fourth estate beyond mother, father and god — 'guru brahma, guru vishnu'.
Aspiring students begin new studies on this day, musicians and dancers perform for their teachers, and many begin the Chaturmas discipline from the following day.
