Hartalika Teej: dates, muhurat and meaning.
The next Hartalika Teej is on Thursday, 2 September 2027. The date is computed from the classical panchang for Delhi (rule: shukla tritiya tithi prevailing at sunset). Below are the Hartalika Teej dates for 2026 and 2027, the day's shubh muhurat windows, and what the festival celebrates.
Hartalika Teej by year
What is Hartalika Teej?
The name tells the story: Parvati's friend (sakhi) took (harit) her away to the forest so she could perform her penance undisturbed. The vrata is kept in her honour across North India.
It falls the day before Ganesh Chaturthi, so the two festivals share one busy season of sthapana and puja.
Muhurat on Hartalika Teej
The pratah-kaal (morning) puja of Shiva-Parvati is the prescribed window. The Abhijit Muhurat above is the day's safest span; avoid the sankalpa during Rahu Kaal.
| Window | Time (IST) |
|---|---|
| Abhijit Muhurat (shubh for all works) | 11:55 AM – 12:46 PM |
